Art Scilly week starts on May 7th this year and is an opportunity for anyone and everyone, whatever their level of skill, to have a go.
Several of the local artists are going to be giving tuition in everything from bookbinding to jewellery, or from sketching and oil painting to glass fusing. Other artist, not actually teaching, will be happy to chat informally to visitors on what motivates and inspires them, or the finer points of their techniques.
This is the ideal time to visit Scilly if you are, or aspire to be, creative.
Each of the off-islands will have a dedicated day, on which to exhibit the crafts and talents of their particular residents in a local hall or gallery, so we hope you will come and support the venture. We intend to make this an annual event, so if you can't book up for this year, try again between 12th-19th May 2012.
Details of this year's events and how to book are available on www.simplyscilly.co.uk where you will find an "Art Scilly" option in the blue tags at the top of the page. It will also give you details of accommodation if you should need it.
Hello, found your blog while looking up the artist on St Mary's who may have made the glorious glass agapanthus that we bought on the island a couple of years ago. I've featured them in my blog mybeautfulthings.wordpress.com but haven't been able to credit the artist and would love to.
ReplyDeleteWas it you or are you able to help, please? :)
Hi Sally. Very belatedly! Yes it was my glass agapanthus, & I'm glad you liked it so much.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have time to check for comments on the blog in the summer, as season was very busy by then and we were also dealing with a sudden bereavement, sorry.
Finally got around to updating the autumn pages of our blog, so hope you enjoy looking at that.
Just had a look at yours. Looks great!
